Due to COVID-19 we have suspended all face to face gatherings with large groups however small groups are meeting face to face following COVID-19 protocols while others are meeting virtually utilizing our Comox Valley Probus Club Zoom Account.
Club Activities are one of the main attractions in any club, and ours is no different. We currently have some great activities, but it is always good to keep things fresh by entertaining new interests as well.  Any Probus member can present an idea for an activity.  Any and all ideas are welcomed. Unfortunately we have had to cancel most indoor activities until further notice due to COVID-19 however some groups have been creative and meet virtually. Outside activity groups have started up on a limited basis in accordance with the Safety Plan now available. Contact the Executive Committee if you are looking for more information on this exciting start up plan.  We can’t wait to get back together as a large group in person but our focus is on staying strong and healthy so social distancing is a priority. Our General Meetings are being held virtually utilizing our Club Zoom Account.  All members are invited to attend these meetings!

Contact our club if you have any questions.  Our club normally meets the 3rd Wednesday morning at 10 am at the Westerley Hotel on Cliffe Ave. We have suspended face to face large group meetings due to COVID-19 and hope to resume in due course, depending on the Government and Health safety guidelines for large group meetings. We are however meeting in a virtual environment utilizing our Club Zoom Account for large groups as well as small groups.  Join us every month! Stay strong and stay safe!

President's Message

Welcome to the Comox Valley Probus Club. We are a diverse group of retired and semi-retired people who have been meeting in friendship for the past 20 years. New people are very welcome.

We focus upon fun social gatherings which include exploring the valley on foot or on bikes, visiting gardens, photography and painting, playing games, reading and discussing books, discussing current events, cooking and/or eating together, singing, dancing, and sometimes enjoying truly wonderful trips to plays, the opera, locations throughout the valley and even other countries. Currently, all of our indoor activities happen over zoom.

This year, the 20th Anniversary of receiving our charter from Probus Canada, we are celebrating our members. We will be featuring members as our speakers every month to share their stories, memories and expertise. This month’s meeting on April 21st will feature Danny Bereza and his stories of being a bush pilot in the Canadian north. It promises to be fascinating. Our May meeting on May 19th will feature Tony Brett.

Other meetings in April include a current events discussion group, book clubs, a hosted virtual coffee house, a wonderful virtual cooking class featuring lemon chicken piccata and rice and a neighbourhood stroll. But the most special event was another car rally with complex puzzles to solve that sent us all over the valley on April 18th. The last one was amazingly fun and I’m sure this was too.

All of us are looking forward to the day when we will be able to meet in person again. However, until we can, we will be continuing to create opportunities for connection. You are very welcome to join us and meet all the new friends that await you here.

Take care. Stay well.
