COFFEE BREAK

SPEAKER: Joan Boase introduced our speaker Joanne

Schroeder from the Comox Valley Child Development

Centre.

Joanne stated that the mission of the organization

is to help children reach their highest potential.

These are children who have developmental delays and

suffer from the many aspects of autism. Her talk was

extremely informative and enlightening about this

ever increasing disorder and how the public reacts when a child

or adult shows unpredictable behaviour and doesn't see any

mobility aids to excuse the behaviour.

With the knowledge that Joanne imparted to us, there were

many questions about this invisible disability.

Karin Franzen thanked Joanne on our membership

behalf and presented her with a cheque for her centre.

OUR MEMBERS: Many thanks to our members who chose to wear the

green in honour of St. Patrick's Day! And lassies and gents,

life would not be complete without a few jokes at the

expense of our Irish friends. Jokes were provided by Pat

Dawson, Larry Gray, Betty Dawson and of course our

own Irish representative, Liz Datoo.

After many groans and guffaws, the Jokemaster,

Mike Syer, returned to finish them off. The jokes that is!!

Dave Hysert presented Mike with an Irish hat with a

laugh from everyone.

DRAW PRIZES: Were won by Diane Middleton and Sandra Gray.

NEXT MEETING: Wednesday April 19th, 2017

NEXT MONTH'S SPEAKER: Jane Murphy Executive Director of the new hospital.

Dave Hysert adjourned the meeting at noon and wished everyone a Happy St. Patricks

Day along with a safe drive home.

Editor Notes

Well it is almost time for another meeting.  The time sure flies by which I'm told is a good thing in that we must be having fun.  Speaking of fun I was asked to fill in at Jim's bridge group last month and you know what I had a blast.  Now I am no great bridge player like my wife but I try to get by without too much embarrassment.  Luckily I had a wonderful, understanding partner in Joan Boase and it was a lot of fun.  Everyone was there to have fun and great fellowship and they sure succeeded.   I just wish I had taken my camera so I could share with you all, the atmosphere and expressions.

If you have an activity please share your experience with everyone by sending me pictures and a write up as some already do.  If I get it by email I can sure get it into the news letter.

I want to thank Bill and Tony for their efforts with their cameras.  Take all of the pictures you can fellows as I can determine their usage.  I don't get duplicates which is amazing.

Thank you for your time and I hope I haven't bored you with any thing.
